Hundreds of Horses art Project

An Artist’s Journey Through Art, Horses, and the Spirit Within

May 2026 to Present

Hundreds of Horses is my ongoing journey to create a new collection of equine paintings centered around capturing the spirit of the horse.

After more than twenty years of painting horses through personal commissions, I wanted to open a new path for my work. One that would allow me to continue painting the horses people love while also giving myself room to explore different styles, materials, techniques, and creative approaches.

Some paintings will begin with a beloved horse and the photographs and stories shared with me by its person. Others will emerge entirely from imagination. Each one gives me the opportunity to look beyond physical details and search for something deeper: personality, presence, emotion, and the individual spirit that makes a horse unforgettable.

If you have been hoping to have your own horse painted in a way that goes beyond a traditional portrait, that door is open. I intend to preserve what makes your horse unmistakably yours while bringing my own distinctive style and creative vision to the painting.

There are also many ideas tucked away in my head waiting to find their way onto paper. This collection gives me the freedom to explore different breeds, coat patterns, personalities, and horses that exist only in my imagination. It also gives me space to finally paint some of the horses that have touched my own life and continue to inspire it.

My heart is still healing from the recent loss of a beloved family pet after sixteen wonderful years. This project had already been waiting on the back burner for several years, and that loss reminded me how important it is to preserve the spirit and presence of the animals who become part of our lives.

I hope this becomes a journey of change, exploration, growth, and perhaps a little healing too. A collection rooted in my lifelong love for the horses I paint and for horses everywhere.

Alongside commissioned portraits, I am giving myself the freedom to wander creatively, a little less traditional and a lot more wild.

One horse, one painting, and one story at a time.

Collector Information

The Hundreds of Horses Art Project is an evolving collection of original hand painted horses created through personal stories, artistic exploration, and the freedom to let each painting develop in its own way. The collection will include commissioned horses, horses that have touched my own life, and horses drawn entirely from imagination. Whether real or imagined, each painting will be created with the same purpose: to capture something of the horse’s personality, presence, and spirit. There is no race to finish the collection and no rigid path it must follow. Some paintings may feel familiar and grounded, while others may wander farther into imagination.

Through my own hands, traditional materials, and wet pigments, I hope to preserve something of each horse and the small moment in time held within the painting.

As the collection grows:

• Original paintings may be available for direct purchase through the gallery.

• Custom paintings may be commissioned from your own horse’s photographs and story.

Dedication

For the Wild, The Gentle & The Remembered.

This collection was born from a broken heart.

From love. From loss. From memories that will forever linger.

â€‹I dedicate this journey to all the animals who have touched my life.

To those from years gone by who now live in memory.

To those who still walk beside me today.

You taught me that unconditional love can arrive in many forms.

Love that asks for nothing and gives everything.

And to those I have not yet met but someday will.

To all the things that found their way into my work and helped form the way I see the world.

To sunrises that promise another beginning.

To sunsets that remind us to pause.

I do not want to take any of it for granted.

Every ordinary moment that became extraordinary.

You inspired my art in one way or another.

For all of it, my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude.

This journey is for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Updated May 2026

Will the original artwork be available for purchase?
Yes. Most pieces created for Hundreds of Horses will be available either for direct purchase or auction.

Will there be prints?
Possibly.

Hundreds of Horses is first and foremost a collection of original artwork. I may occasionally offer very limited edition prints for select pieces, though many horses may remain available only as originals.

I may also offer a very limited edition mini collection set featuring small versions of all 100 horses together once the collection is complete. That idea is still being explored and may evolve as the journey unfolds.

Where will auctions take place?
Until I work through logistics and discover what works best for the project, auctions will be posted on my Facebook art page:

Facebook Art Page:
www.facebook.com/AmyLynBihrle

How do I bid on Facebook auctions?
When an auction is posted, bidding instructions will be included in the post. Most auctions will simply require placing your bid in the comments section. Auction start times, ending times, shipping details, and any special rules will be listed with each individual piece.

How do I pay for a winning Facebook auction bid?
If you win an auction, I will contact you after the auction closes. Payment can be completed through an invoice sent from my website, which accepts most major payment options, or through PayPal if preferred.

Payment details, time limits, shipping information, and any special instructions will be included with each auction post.

Can I purchase artwork directly from this website?
Yes. When available, pieces may also be offered as Buy It Now directly here on the Hundreds of Horses page.

How can I stay updated?
You can sign up for project updates, newsletters, and new artwork announcements here on the website.

Will all of the horses be the same size and medium?
No. Different sizes, surfaces, styles, and mediums will be explored throughout the project. Some may be small studies, ACEOs, sketches, experiments, or larger finished works.

Will the artwork include a Certificate of Authenticity (COA)?
Yes. Original artwork from Hundreds of Horses will include a Certificate of Authenticity as part of the collection archive and documentation of the project journey.

Will there be a gallery archive?
Yes. A gallery section will be created here on the website showing details for each horse, including

– Title
– Date Created
– Size
– Medium Used
– Availability Status
– Story or Artist Notes when applicable
– COA Information
– Collection Number (Horse #001 through Horse #100)

Is there a schedule for the project?
No. There is no deadline, timeline, or release schedule. One horse may appear in a day, another may take weeks. The project will unfold naturally.

How many pieces will there be?
Each collection within Hundreds of Horses will consist of 100 pieces, with each horse receiving its own place in the archive and project history. This may be the only collection. Or it may become the first of many.

We shall see where the journey leads. For now, there are 100 spaces waiting to be filled.

Are commissions open?

Yes. If you have been hoping to have your own horse painted in a way that goes beyond a traditional portrait, that door is open. Commissioned paintings will be created in my distinctive style, with the intention of capturing the personality, presence, and spirit that make your horse unmistakably yours.

Availability, sizes, pricing, and completion times will depend upon my current studio schedule.

Anything else I should visit while I’m here?
One of my favorite places on the website is Dear Wildflowers, a quiet little corner filled with letters, gentle moments, and meadow inspiration.

What is Hundreds of Horses really about?

This project is a personal journey through handmade art, horses, and slowing down to appreciate the moment. It is about capturing the spirit of the horse while celebrating the freedom to experiment, explore, and follow each painting wherever it leads.
